Mhluzi will never be the same again after a successful handover from Saint Peter Christian College.
The college donated a building to be used as a science and robotics centre to TechnoAfrika in full view of excited stakeholders.
The building was named after Dr Mandla Khumalo, and it is believed it will play an active role in uplifting those who live in the area.
TechnoAfrika is a hub that is dedicated to advancing science and robotics.
The centre will offer practical experience to Mhluzi residents and communities in surrounding areas.
“Many schools lack the necessary facilities to fully immerse their learners in the practical aspects of science,” said project manager Sarai Mandude.
The launching of the centre is not looking to replace what is already there, but help add more with the practical side of education.
Subjects cannot only be taught theoretically; they must also be taught practically. The centre will hopefully be playing an active role in serving and uplifting those around them, he further stated.
The centre will offer programmes in science, robotics and coding, and it will also offer support for science technology, engineering and maths clubs.
It will also host regional robotics competitions, practical science. technology, and skills development will also be taught at the centre, and apprenticeships for engineers will be offered.
Mandude mentioned that there will be a competition between Makhathini Primary School, Middelburg Primary School and Saint
Peter Christian College on March 20, which will take place at the centre.
He further added that the centre brings together experts from various fields to advance collaborations and provide resources for the community.
