Emakhazeni residents without electricity, truck drives down poles

A truck driving down Emakhazeni's residential area caused extensive damage after striking electricity poles.

Belfast residents have been without electricity since last night 19:00 after a truck driving down a residential street struck down several electricity poles and causing extensive damage.

According to information, at least seven poles were mowed down in total after the truck hit five poles on the corner of Kerk- and Duggen Street. The electricity cable was dragged more than two blocks resulting in another pole being pulled down in Fitzgerald Street.

In messages circulating on Belfast WhatsApp groups, residents were told to prepare for the outage to continue tomorrow as new poles need to be planted.

According to a resident, Christo Steyn, the trucks are causing serious damage to residential streets. He confirmed that residents have been without electricity for 24 hours.
