Parents upset after children sent home from school

Parents’ tempers flare after learners get sent home during uniform inspection at Middelburg College.

Children at the Middelburg College were ordered to leave school and return home earlier today (Tuesday), following claims that the learners were not wearing the correct uniform.

The Middelburg Observer received several complaints from frustrated parents who asked for anonymity in fear of their children being victimised.

According to one of the parents, the children were told to go home for not wearing blazers and ties. Other parents said their children were sent home because of their trousers and skirts being too short.

The parents received a letter stating that tomorrow, the uniform inspection will continue.

Some parents feel this is unfair because the children have full appropriate uniforms, just not blazers and ties.

The Observer spoke to school principal Jan Horn about the parents’ complaints. He declined to comment and didn’t respond to a message sent to him.
