Health department cites confidentiality in C-Section controversy

The Department of Health responded to a C-section negligence claim, citing doctor-patient confidentiality.

The Department of Health has responded to allegations of medical negligence.

This follows after a Middelburg Observer report about Thabile Choma, a 31-year-old woman who claims to have been left scarred for life after a C-section at Witbank Provincial Hospital.

Christopher Nobela, media spokesperson, stated: “It is unfortunate that the informer did not fully disclose facts regarding the condition of the patient. In respect of doctor-patient confidentiality, and due to the matter being sub judice, the department is unable to comment further.”
