WATCH: Titon titans foil theft of antique copper artefacts

Dodgy buyers keep black markets alive.

Titon Security foiled an early morning break-in and theft at Johnny’s Bargain World in Rivier Street, where the opportunistic night prowler attempted to steal various antique copper items after throwing a brick through the store’s window.

CCTV footage of the prowler shows him scoping out the shopfront before hurling the brick and snatching an item through the window.

He returned a short time later and attempted to pull an antique copper bowl from the window, with the thief unable to pry the bowl through the window due to the size of the hole left by the brick.

It’s clear from the video footage that the thief exerted all his might to pull the valuable bowl through the hole in the window before some headlights appeared from a distance, spurring the thief to flee.

Titon’s reaction officers then scour the scene for the misfit, finding him sitting across the street, acting all innocent.

When Titon’s reaction officers approached him, he, however, jumped up and started running towards a wall of a nearby business.

He disappeared over the wall, with Titon reaction officers hot on his heels, ultimately outrunning the Titon do-gooders and escaping.

The incident happened at around 02:30 yesterday morning.

During the escape, the thief dropped the antique copper blowtorch he had stolen.

Upon inspection of the storefront, reaction officers found the bowl still stuck in the window.

Johnny’s Bargain World heaped praises on Titon and the company’s swift reaction, resulting in no losses, other than the costs of fixing the broken window.
