Middelburg climbed boots and all into Professor Munro's heart.

The evening nobody would forget; when the Professor sang Sarie Marais!

It was one of those precious moments.

One of those moments that people will cherish for years to come.

The night when Professor Kathy Munro sang Sarie Marais.

It happened last night when the Heritage Foundation of South Africa held its gala evening at the Middelburg Country Club.

Middelburg Heritage Association chairman Rudi van Wyk said ‘he was instructed’ to request the outgoing SAHA chairman to sing the famous folk song.

Munro did not waste any time and sang along with Van Wyk.

The guests spontaneously sang along.

It was clear that Middelburg climbed into the professor’s heart.

She could not stop talking about the town.

She said her highlight was a visit to Middelburg Primary School, where she saw what South Africa should be and look like in action.

The pupils impressed her with the way they responded to her presentation.

“These pupils must all be highly gifted, you have wonderful children in Middelburg,” she said.

A special painting of the Witkerk was presented to her later that evening.
