NEWS: Still no break in grisly Avontuur murders in which victims’ heads, hands and feet were chopped off

A special provincial task force was formed to investigate the rural slayings.

DNA tests have determined the identity of the two Mozambican men killed on a farm on Avontuur, with both victims shot to death, before their heads, hands and feet were removed from the bodies.

The heads, hands and feet have not been recovered.

The bodies were found on September 26th, with multiple shots reported by neighbours the previous night around 23:00.

A neighbour notified the farm owner of the gruesome discovery the next morning after a farm worker found pools of blood on the farm where the bodies were dragged through the game fence to where they were found.

The owner and his family was not on the farm when the murders occurred.

Two Mozambican nationals were later detained, but only charged with being in the country illegally.

The men cannot be identified before they were formally ID’ed by family members, who is said to be travelling to Middelburg to claim the bodies.
