ID book and driver’s licences found on Samora Machel Street

A pedestrian discovered two sets of identity documents and driver’s licences abandoned in the grass along Samora Machel Street last week.

A pedestrian, who was walking along Samora Machel Street last Friday, made a surprising discovery when he came across two identity documents lying in the grass.

André Coetzee told the Middelburg Observer that he was crossing the bridge near the steps leading down to Weeber Street (just past the silos), when he noticed something next to the pavement. Upon closer inspection, he found an ID book, an ID card and two driver’s licences scattered in the grass.
“It looked as if someone threw them there after a wallet was maybe stolen,” he said.

The documents belong to Victor Bruno de Freitas Nunes, whose ID book and driver’s licence were recovered, and Amos Janijie Jiyane, whose ID card and driver’s licence were also found. The ID book has suffered water damage from the rain, but the ID card and licences remain intact.

Andre brought all the documents to the Observer offices this morning.
