Family seeks help locating missing Doornkop learner

A search is underway to find missing Doornkop teenager Angel Masuku, last seen on Tuesday after leaving home to braid her hair.

The family of Angel Unathi Masuku, a 15-year-old learner from Doornkop, is appealing to the public for assistance after she went missing on Tuesday, (January 13).

According to her grandmother, Miriam Masuku, Angel left home at around 15:00 to go and braid her hair in the Doornkop area, but never returned. Concerned family members later went to the place where Angel was reportedly supposed to have her hair done, only to find no one there.

A neighbour allegedly informed the family that the people who usually operate from that location had gone home for the holidays and had not yet returned, raising further concern about Angel’s whereabouts.

Miriam described her granddaughter as a quiet, reserved, and obedient child who does not have many friends and prefers staying indoors. She said Angel’s disappearance is completely out of character.

The family has since opened a missing person’s case at the local police station.

Angel is a Grade 10 learner at Ekwazini Secondary School and is expected to turn 16 years old later this year. She was last seen wearing a black pleated skirt, a white T-shirt, and a pink jersey.

• Anyone with information that may assist in locating Angel is urged to contact Miriam Masuku on 064 732 1556 or report to the nearest police station.
