Watch: Community supports Middelburg SPCA and CMR at ‘Hope, Hearts and Hounds’ fundraiser

Families, pets and animal lovers gathered at Aerorand Primary School for a fundraiser in aid of children and animals in need.

The Hope, Hearts & Hounds fundraiser was successfully held at Aerorand Primary School, where the Middelburg SPCA and CMR Middelburg hosted a full day of fun and entertainment in support of vulnerable children and animals.

The event drew community support, with families, children and dog lovers filling the school grounds for a day built on compassion and togetherness.

A day filled with wagging tails and happy families

The programme offered a variety of activities, including:

  • Dog competitions

  • Children’s entertainment

  • Interactive dog-training demonstrations

  • Food stalls

  • Prizes and giveaways

The crowd favourites included the Owner-and-Dog Lookalike Competition, Cutest Furbaby, Golden Oldie, and Best Rescue Story, all celebrating the joy, personality and special bonds between pets and their owners.

Puppies, senior dogs and rescue pets all shared the spotlight as local residents cheered them on.

A fundraiser with heart

While the event offered plenty of fun, its purpose was deeply meaningful.
Both CMR and the SPCA highlighted that the funds raised will support their ongoing work with vulnerable children and animals, work that often happens quietly, behind the scenes.

The event served as a reminder of how Middelburg rallies when it matters most, with the community showing up in full support to help give both children and animals a better future.
