A constant stream of water flows uselessly into the veld.

Thousands of litres of water have been flowing along the new road between the Industrial area and the Bethal road for weeks.

According to the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality, it is ‘underground water’ coming from the Vaalbank sewage works.

About a kilometre away, water is seeping up from a hole that was apparently dug to install a water pipe.
The hole was left, and the contractor disappeared.

According to councillor Deon van der Merwe, in whose ward the Vaalbank sewage works fall, it was said during a review visit by the legislature that ‘this is underground water that is being diverted from under the new osmosis plant’.
