Cable thieves leave bullets behind at Alzu cell tower ransacking
Stock theft is keeping police from reducing the miserable statistics.
Dullstroom – The holiday oasis of Dullstroom has seen a recent spike in cable theft and damage to infrastructure.
We’re not talking small money here either.
Rural areas are increasingly targeted because vast distances, isolated properties, and dark, unmonitored zones allow criminals to operate undisturbed.
At Kruisfontein, a road transformer theft will set the sleepy holiday town back R300 000.

In two separate incidents, rural transformers were stolen again along the Kruisfontein road.
Criminals are exploiting low-visibility farm areas under the cover of darkness.
Damage and replacement costs for local transformers have exceeded R300 000 this past month alone.
Tragically, the scrap value these thieves get is less than 10% of the actual damage caused.
The Dullstroom security network is also aware of a plundered tower near Alzu.
A local cellular tower was also heavily plundered for cables and diesel. Live bullets were discovered at the scene, proving these syndicates are armed and dangerous.
The SAPS were notified, the evidence was collected, and an active investigation is currently underway.
Alzu Security played a pivotal role in mobilising reaction units, including their own.
