Think of Middelburg, and you think of Highveld plains and maize fields. Participants in the Alzu 100 Miler (160km) on July 25 are going to get the surprise of their lives.

A monster awaits them, the Stoffberg Monster. After cyclists start at the Alzu Petroport, they ride north-east towards Stoffberg. And this is where the monster awaits them.

Cyclists who have already tackled the route said it is worse than climbing Kranspoort on your road bike.
In addition to the climb, according to the organisers, misty highlands, pine forests, trout country and vast maize fields await participants.

“The climber’s race. Tough. Beautiful. Earned.” To ride this unforgettable race, cyclists will have to be quick, because the closing date is July 19, just days away. “You come because you want to test yourself without disappearing for a week. You stay because 100 miles in one day is exactly as hard as it sounds, and exactly as rewarding”.

“The 100 Miler is built for the rider who is done with comfortable distances but isn’t ready to vanish into the wilderness for days at a time. It is the in-between. The missing middle. The distance that finally makes sense.

For the less daring, there is also a 50 Miler (80km). The start for the 100 Miler and 50 Miler is at 08:00 at the Alzu Petroport.

A minimum of 10 riders per age category is required to qualify for the prize money.
