SDM conducts second IDP programme

IEC encourages residents to register to vote during the joint draft Integrated Development Plan and Budget meeting.

Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) held its second joint draft Integrated Development Plan and Budget for the 2025/2026 financial year with Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality at the Pink Hall in Matlerekeng Village on April 15.

The gathering follows an engagement with traditional leaders at the Elias Motsoaledi council chamber last Tuesday.

Matlerekeng Village residents converged at the local hall in large numbers to partake in the meeting, which seeks to deliberate municipal affairs, including the draft IDP and budget.

Various sector departments and the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), a Chapter 9 institution ensuring every electorate practices their democratic right to vote, formed part of the meeting.

The IEC encouraged residents to register to vote, citing that small numbers of people often turn up during the voter registration period in Ephraim Mogale.

SDM Council Speaker Kgoediebotse Chego echoed the IEC’s call, stressing the significance of actively participating in the democratic processes of the country to give the government direction.

Mayor Given Moimana appreciated the residents’ efforts to leave all their daily responsibilities for the meeting.
