Dikgerekgere initiative improves Dichoeung Village road

The Dikgerekgere initiative saw to it that major improvements were done to Dichoeung Road.

Critical parts of Dichoeung Road, including the gravel stretch leading to the local clinic, Matsebong Secondary School, Eskom sub-station and the cemetery, saw major improvements during Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality’s roll-out of Dikgerekgere Tuesdays initiative in Ward 18.

The residents commended the municipality for ensuring that they also benefit from the programme like other communities which were previously attended through the service delivery initiative.

They said the improvements on the road represent the strong municipal presence and a leadership that puts the needs of the masses first.

Extended Public Works Programme workers and plant operators took the lead in carrying out the gravel road upgrade work.

Thomas Mashabela, municipal spokesperson, said effort demonstrates the institution’s unwavering commitment to bringing services closer to the people and improving their livelihood.

Mayor Merah Mahlase stated, “Our people deserve safe roads and a clean environment. Programmes like Dikgerekgere Tuesdays are not just about fixing infrastructure but about restoring dignity and bringing services closer to the people. We are doing this, ward by ward, one by one; making sure no community is left behind.”
