MEC Rachoene pushes road upgrades

Infrastructure challenges on the D4176, D4177, D4178 and D4179 roads addressed by Limpopo MEC.

Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene, is embarking on a drive to engage communities across the province to address road infrastructure confrontations.

The MEC met with the Letolwane Traditional Council on Tuesday in an attempt to address critical concerns regarding the improvements of four major roads in the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality.

The engagement focused on the D4176, D4177, D4178 and D4179 roads within the local municipality.

The meeting marked the third stakeholder engagement across the province that day, reflecting its unwavering commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges head-on and ensuring responsive and accountable governance.

Emanuel Mongwe, departmental spokesperson, indicated that the gathering formed part of the broader departmental initiative aimed at improving road infrastructure and enhancing service delivery throughout the province.

“Through direct consultations with community representatives and traditional leadership, the department seeks to prioritise community needs, ensure inclusive planning, and deliver sustainable infrastructure,” Mongwe stated.

  • In Ephraim Mogale, Rachoene led Dikgerekgere Wednesdays service delivery programme on the D4350 road in Mohlotsi Village last Thursday.

Mongwe highlighted that the programme aims to revitalise the province’s road infrastructure through blading, re-gravelling and debushing.

The MEC emphasised the significance of responsive governance and community involvement, stating that Dikgerekgere Wednesdays is not just a programme but the department’s promise to meet people where they are and take decisive action to make their roads drivable.

“We are indeed doing things differently to ensure that we fully service our people,” Rachoene remarked. He was joined by Mayor Given Moimana and Council Chief Whip Itumeleng Magane.
