PSA Open Pool Championships on the roll at Pienaardam Leisure Resort

The rolling, green carpet of felt lathering one of the halls at Pienardam Leisure Resort isn't going anywhere for the next week as the PSA National Pool Tournament continues.

The town of Middelburg served as a host to hundreds of young pool contestants last week, during which the PSA National Juniors Tournament took place.

The juniors eliminated each other from the week long tournament, which finally saw Western Province take the prize in both the u/18 and u/23 categories.

The Leisure Resort had barely seen their young guests off before welcoming their next ones as the PSA Open Tournament commenced.

As the best of the best measure cues, Middelburg is honoured with visits from the cream of the crop, like recently crowned World Champion, Amy-Claire King, who is representing the Northern Gauteng team.

But the Mpumalanga region is being well represented with two teams of 24 players in total, all from Witbank, Lydenburg, Carolina and our very own Middelburg.

As the preliminaries continue, the Mpumalanga Federation showed their strength in a match against the North West and are moving forward in the tournament.

The finals will be taking place on Saturday afternoon, where the next victors will be crowned.
