Taxi driver released on bail after deadly fire

Mosehla was in the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, where the matter was postponed to August 21.

Mogau Mosehla (44) is facing two counts of culpable homicide and charges relating to the contravention of the National Road Traffic Act, including overloading and failure to produce an operating certificate.

Mosehla was arrested after the tragic minibus fire last Wednesday afternoon, which resulted in the deaths of two Mannyetha Primary School Grade R learners, Kgodisho Moruthanyane (6) and Lethukuthula Fankomo (6), and left seven others hospitalised.

Thirteen learners escaped unharmed, but, unfortunately, Moruthanyane and Fankomo died inside the Toyota Quantum minibus.

Mosehla reappeared before the Nebo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday following his first appearance last Friday. The matter was postponed to August 21, and bail of R6 000 was granted.

The incident occurred on the Tswaing gravel road near the Apel crossroads towards Nkotokwane Village.

The minibus was transporting 22 schoolchildren, aged between six and 10, from school to their homes when it caught fire after the driver allegedly struck a rock and lost control of the vehicle.
