Four more teams march into Lerato Lamola Winter Games’ round of 16
The race for the Ikeja Lerato Lamola Winter Games title intensified on June 13 as One Lion FC, Mogodumo FC, Team of Choice FC, and 012 Ayifun'Wena FC secured their places in the round of 16.
The 11th edition of the Ikeja Lerato Lamola Winter Games continues to captivate football fans, with four more teams securing their places in the round of 16 during thrilling round of 32 action on June 13.
Hosted at the Esgodini-based Lord Khanyile Sports Ground, the popular annual tournament has once again demonstrated its growing stature within local football circles.

This year’s edition has attracted increased sponsorship support, further boosting opportunities for township football development and showcasing local talent. Supporters turned out in large numbers, filling the venue from early morning until late afternoon to witness the action-packed fixtures.

Matches kick off at 08:00 every weekend, with the tournament running from June 6 and culminating in the grand final on June 27.
Several entertaining encounters kept fans on the edge of their seats this weekend, as teams battled for a coveted place in the next round. One Lion FC advanced after a convincing 2–0 victory over Bruno FC, while Mogodumo FC stunned tournament favourites Skepe Nketole, eliminating them 4–2 in a penalty shootout following a tightly contested match.

Team of Choice FC also needed penalties to progress, edging Mbidzo FC 5–4 after regulation time failed to separate the sides. In another exciting fixture, 012 Ayifun’Wena FC secured a hard-fought 2–1 win over ADT FC.

The four teams join the eight clubs that have already booked their round of 16 spots during the opening weekend of the tournament. Those teams include Galatasary FC, United FC, PSG FC, PEP XI, Marashia FC, Mudagasi FC, Gwara Gwara FC, and Mapela United FC.
The competition continued on June 14, with Ditau FC defeating Mashashane FC 2–1 in the day’s opening fixture to secure progression.
The remaining round of 32 fixtures, featuring Ama2000 against African Bhubhane, Malandelela versus Babirwa, and AT Mambas and Ngwadla FC, will bring the round to a close.
