Community patrolling programme extended to the malls

MIDRAND – Rabie Ridge police have extended their patrolling programme to malls.

Rabie Ridge police, in partnership with the Department of Community Safety and Community Policing Forum, have taken a step to safeguard the communities by extending the community patrolling programme to malls.

“Criminals are always looking to benefit financially during the festive season because most people tend to carry large sums of money or appliances and equipment worth lots of money, therefore, the patrolling system in malls will assist in ensuring that shoppers are safe,” said Rabie Ridge spokesperson Captain Matsobane Masela.

“Criminals do not care about anyone’s life, as long as they are able to generate cash. We are warning people to be careful with their vehicles because they will be targeted.

“Anonymous tip-offs regarding any planned criminal activities will be appreciated. We are calling on shoppers and the community at large to work with the police to create a safe environment, a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.”
