Facilities management expo brings practical safety solutions to Midrand homes
Residents and business owners took the opportunity to learn about safety and technological innovations, helping to reduce crime and fires, at the facilities management expo at Gallagher Convention Centre.
The Montgomery Group took over the Gallagher Convention Centre recently for the facilities management expo.
The aim of the exhibition was to give the community an opportunity to learn about safety measures from professionals responsible for efficiency, compliance, and workplace well-being, connecting them with the solutions that keep buildings running better, from maintenance and energy to automation, cleaning, and air quality.

The expo brough together five industries under one strategic platform.
• The facilities management expo: Providing exhibitors the chance to discuss the needs of facilities and building managers,

GIG Gas Detection Technologies sales representative Bart Muszynski explained the importance of having gas detection tools.
“They help with telling you when there are gas leaks in a room, which prevents unwanted gas explosions.” Attendant Vhuthu Matshutshu said the exhibition was helpful, because she didn’t know that gas can leak, and cause gas explosions.

Safety officer Pretty Mkwani said she attended the event to gain insight on new developments within her profession.
“I wanted to learn more about the current personal protective equipment (PPE) and what opportunities exist in the construction industry.”
While the recent stats on crime by the South African Police Service (SAPS) revealed an increase in Midrand, experts at the expo talked about how technology can assist in fighting crime. DigitFMS senior technician Kyle Wulff, said robodog is one of them.
“We have a robodog on site that helps with patrolling, protecting areas, and allowing security guards to rest when they have to.”
The Montgomery Group portfolio director Mark Anderson said the exhibition remains an important platform for connecting industry experts, businesses, and the public, while showcasing innovations that contribute to safer communities and workplaces.
