Brian Molapisane Foundation’s #ProtectABoyChild campaign kicks off with football league

What sets this league apart is its greater mission, that of being a fundraising vehicle for the foundation’s upcoming rehabilitation and educational trips.

The Brian Molapisane Foundation hosted a remarkable soccer event on May 4 at Noordwyk Secondary School as part of its ongoing seniors league, held under the impactful #ProtectABoyChild campaign.

Founder of the foundation Brian Molapisane said the day was not just about sports; it was a gathering of purpose, mentorship, and healing for the boy child, through the power of football.

“The campaign recognises that boys too often suffer in silence, lacking platforms to express themselves or be heard,” Molapisane explained. “This initiative seeks to bridge that gap – encouraging men to stand up and be role models – while offering young boys a safe space where they are seen, valued, and guided.”

With 10 teams participating, the seniors league has become a key community-building initiative, with a strong competitive spirit, but an ultimate goal that runs much deeper than winning. “Every player who steps on the field is already considered a champion – fighting, not only for victory, but for the future of our young boys.”

What sets this league apart is its greater mission: It is a fundraising vehicle for the foundation’s upcoming rehabilitation and educational trips. The funds raised through this campaign will support excursions to historic landmarks like Constitution Hill and Freedom Park, where young boys will be exposed to South Africa’s powerful history of resilience, justice, and transformation.

These trips are designed to spark critical thinking, build character, and help boys connect with their identity and potential.

As a passionate mental health advocate, Molapisane shared his vision, stating: “Through football, we are creating a brotherhood. A space where boys can see what it means to be a man who listens, leads, and loves. We want them to grow up emotionally aware, respectful, and strong enough to ask for help when they need it.”

The event also provided an opportunity for the broader community to engage with the foundation’s work. From the cheering sidelines to the motivational sessions held before and after the matches, it was clear that something special is happening – something that could shift generational cycles.
