A move into a new future

By Own Correspondent

For more than 40 years, Viglietti Motors has been known as the home of Ferrari in South Africa and the official dealer of Maranello’s finest for sub-Saharan Africa. However, as part of the company’s expansion process approved by Ferrari S.p.A in Italy, a directive was enforced to adopt a more symbolic name.

Scuderia SA CEO, Mervyn Eagles, comments: “While we are still attached to our history and tradition, we have to embrace the future … We spent a great deal of time contemplating various options and decided to go back to our roots.

We are, of course, talking about Maranello, where the world’s most recognisable brand is headquartered. The badge chosen by this incredible brand is the ‘Scuderia Ferrari’ shield. We believe this tie-in to the symbol of Ferrari is the way of the future and something in which we can share a great deal of pride.”

Launched in conjunction with the availability of the new Ferrari California T in South Africa, which headlines a new age of turbocharged vehicles, the new facilities situated in the northern Gauteng metropolitan area are set to be a true landmark in Ferrari history in southern Africa. The showroom exemplifies architectural excellence across all four levels, with limitless capacity for the finest supercars to be showcased and appreciated.

The fully-operational, world-class facilities in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban will continue to strive to offer service excellence to all stakeholders. Scuderia Johannesburg is now situated at 3 Bruton Road, Bryanston.

Official Ferrari partners Veuve Clicquot joined in the celebration as Ferraristi countrywide toasted to this milestone occasion.

Eagles concludes: “Scuderia SA will be the new home of Ferrari throughout South Africa, which our customers can appreciate with us, and continue the Ferrari culture of passion and excellence, as we embark on this exciting new adventure.”
