Eclipse Cross inspired facelift Mitsubishi Xpander revealed
The interior has been modernised but propulsion is set to remain as is.

Introduced earlier this year to South Africa but out in Asian markets since 2017, Mitsubishi has revealed the updated Xpander ahead of its debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show that kicks-off on Thursday (11 November).
A runaway success with reported sales of 37 ,000 units, the Xpander, which dominates the compact seven-seat MPV segment in markets such as Indonesia and Thailand, benefits from a restyled Dynamic Shield front facia derived from the refreshed Eclipse Cross.
This means the inclusion of a redesigned grille and now T-shaped LED headlights, a new front bumper, updated skidplate and at the rear, a redesigned bumper, new 3D taillights and the option of 17-inch alloy wheels.
More prominent are the changes inside where the dashboard has been redesigned to accommodate a new freestanding touchscreen infotainment as well as new air vents.
Along with a new steering wheel and instrument cluster, Mitsubishi has also upgraded the materials, fitted a new climate control display and dials and revised the centre console in order to house the new wireless smartphone charger.

Changes have taken place underneath the Xpander’s new suit in the shape of larger rear shock absorbers, new mounting points for the suspension and tweaked dampers for an improved ride.
Models equipped with the five-speed manual gearbox also come with 225 mm of ground clearance versus the 220 mm of those fitted with the CVT, with the only other addition being a new exhaust gas recirculation system designed to aid efficiency.
Despite no technical details being revealed, the Xpander is likely to retain the normally aspirated 77kW/141Nm 1.5-litre petrol engine, front-wheel-drive layout and the mentioned transmission choices.
Set to go on sale either later this month or in December, pricing for the Xpander has been not divulged, but expect it to come to South Africa next year with a likely price increase from the current starting sticker of R299 900.
