Extreme Festival delivers the magic at Red Star Raceway
Six disciplines contested two races each with a few spills along the way.

The Red Star Raceway near Delmas hosted national championship motorsport on Saturday, with the 2021 Extreme Festival bringing six disciplines to the venue.
Officially, the event was headed up by two races for Global Touring Cars. Starting from pole, Michael van Rooyen (Gazoo Racing Toyota Corolla) won the opening race ahead of Robert Wolk (Chemical Logistics Toyota Corolla), Julien van der Watt (Autozone Ford Focus) and Scott Temple (Chemical Logistics Toyota Corolla).
Race two, started from an inverted grid, was led by Lee Thompson until his Universal Health BMW 2 Series blew its engine. Thereafter Wolk took the victory from Temple, Van Rooyen and Van der Watt.
Jeffrey Kruger led the first Volkswagen SupaCup race from lights to flag in his Universal Health SupaPolo, chased throughout by Bradley Liebenberg (Sparco SupaPolo), Jonathan Mogotsi (Volkswagen Motorsport SupaPolo) and Keegan Campos (Campos Transport SupaPolo). Driving brilliantly, Campos won race two, leading home Mogotsi, Liebenberg and Kruger.

The first Volkswagen Polo Cup heat went to Leyton Fourie (Express Hire Polo), from Nathi Msimanga (Squadra Corse Polo), Jurie Swart (Alpine Autohaus Polo) and Clinton Bezuidenhout (Steaming Bean Polo).
Fourie won race two as well, this time in front of Bezuidenhout, Swart and Tasmin Pepper, making her local racing return in a Campos Transport Polo.
Andrew Rackstraw (Investchem Mygale) won the first Investchem F1600 race ahead of Josh le Roux (ILCA Formula Ford), Gerard Geldenhuys (Abacus Mygale) and Antwan Geldenhuys (Abacus Mygale). Rackstraw repeated the victory in race two, followed by Ewan Holthausen (Total Mygale), Jarrod Waberski (DAW Mygale) and Le Roux.
Graeme van Breda (Stefanutti Stocks ZX10) won the first SunBet Kawasaki ZX10 Masters race ahead of David Enticott (Sarum ZX10), Gareth Bezuidenhout (Kawasaki ZX10) and Appanna Ganapathy (Art ZX10).
Van Breda won race two as well, clinching this year’s national ZX10 Masters title in the process. He was chased to the line by Bezuidenhout, Teddy Brooke (Brooke Fridge ZX10) and Enticott.
The first Mobil V8 Supercar race went to Thomas Reib (Mobil 1 Chevrolet Lumina), leading home Mackie Adlem (Adlem Auto Jaguar XK8), Carl Nel (Africa Gears Chevrolet Lumina) and Warren Lombard (Pepboys Ford Falcon).
Race two was red-flagged twice with cars stationary next to the track. Eventually Adlem emerged as the winner, ahead of Franco di Matteo (Delco Jaguar XK8), Lombard and Reib.
The next round of the 2021 Extreme Festival will be a Regional event at the Eastern Cape Aldo Scribante circuit outside Port Elizabeth on Saturday, 9 October.
