Grip raises their concerns on issues of abuse

Mpumalanga News learnt that the organisation had sent a letter of complaint about the manner in which FCS members of Masoyi and Bushbuckridge conducted themselves when dealing with victims

MASOYI – Social workers working closely with abused women and children at GRIP, have raised their dissatisfaction on how police from the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) handled some of the cases.

Mpumalanga News learnt that the organisation had sent a letter of complaint about the manner in which FCS members of Masoyi and Bushbuckridge conducted themselves when dealing with victims.

The organisation’s appeal to the leadership of FCS and Victim Empowerment in the district is for them to adopt and enforce a zero-tolerance approach to gender-based violence “perpetuated by unconstitutional behaviour displayed by SAPS members within police structures”.

Police spokesperson Brig Selvy Mohlala said he would investigate the allegations.
