Traditional healers urged not to assist criminals

Izinyanga are urged not to give criminals "Umuthi" to confuse police during investigations

TONGA – The local police station yesterday held a meeting with different stakeholders including farmers and traditional healers to discuss criminal activities that are affecting the community.

During the gathering it was revealed that there are traditional healers who are working with criminals. It is alleged that the traditional healers supply criminals with traditional muthi to dupe communities during their criminal activities.

Spokesperson, Lt Mzwandile Nyambi urged traditional healers to work with police to fight crime.

“We heard that there are traditional healers who are working with criminals.It is alleged that they give the criminals ‘Umuthi’ to confuse police when they get to crime scenes and following leads that might help in arresting the criminals,” said Nyambi.
