Local girl to host traditional music show

This must-see musical experience is set to be the authoritative soundtrack of our national musical heritage.

Local girl, Ntombi Mzolo has been appointed as the presenter for e.tv’s vibrant and exciting show called Gumba Gumba.

The show, which will be aired on the channel’s new OpenView HD and will be showcasing the diverse world of Mzansi’s indigenous music through a compelling mix of music videos, artist performances, artists interviews and music trivia of established and upcoming musicians in the country.

Speaking to Mpumalanga News, Mzolo, who is also a member of Amaponi, said that having been brought up in a musical family and being a traditional music singer will contribute immensely to the show since its dedicated to traditional music and culture.

“Traditional music is the genre that I love and understand which I am also passionate about and it also includes my culture,” she noted.

She added that the show will also serve as a learning tool for the youth to understand the different cultures and music.

Mzolo indicated that the show will promote everything that is African and how traditional fashion meets music.

The show will feature sub genres such as Maskandi, Isicathamiya, Mbaqanga, Mgqashiyo, Bubblegum, Venda Traditional, Sotho Traditional (Mohobelo), Tsonga traditional/disco, Pedi Traditional (Harepa) and Xhosa traditional.
