Emnotweni enters new era

Thousands of people, including members of the media, local dignitaries, and other VIPS, flocked to the Arena for the show.

Emnotweni’s grand re-launch on Friday  December 6 was marked with a music spectacular featuring sensational songstress, Lira, at the exquisite new Emnotweni Arena.

Thousands of people, including members of the media, local dignitaries, and other VIPS, flocked to the Arena for the show, which Emnotweni’s Director of Operations and Complex General Manager, Ig Olivier, dedicated to former President Nelson Mandela.

He said: “On Thursday the 5th of December the country received the heartbreaking news of the passing of one of the world’s most legendary leaders. While we celebrate the start of Emnotweni’s new era, we are acutely-aware that we do so during what is certainly to be a most challenging and sand time for all South Africans.

“We dedicate our launch concert to Madiba, as a celebration of his life. We thank Lira, who despite being deeply-affected by his passing, has shown tremendous strength of spirit and professionalism by performing for us. We also thank everyone who joined us in celebrating our re-launch and tribute to Madiba.”

Lira’s concert is the first grand-scale event to be held in the newly-built Emnotweni Arena which is set to become the preferred venue for lifestyle events, exhibitions, conferences, concerts and banquets in the city.

Other high calibre entertainers that have been lined-up to perform at the Arena in the coming months including Theuns Jordaan, comedian Joey Rasdien, Dingalings Productions, and Barry Hilton to name a few.
