Msogwaba–based Nelspruit Angels FC, held a remarkable awards ceremony at the Msogwaba Library last Friday, at which they honoured their players.
Among the dignitaries who graced the event was the Mbombela Mayoral Committee member for sport, Zayd Boroko and national chairperson for social development and parliamentarian, Cathy Dlamini.
Also in attendance were the parents of the future stars, who came to support their children.
Giving the youngsters a pep talk, Boroko had this to say, “My main concern is the parents’ ignorance when it comes to realising the dreams of their kids.
Let us encourage our children to play soccer, and support them, but most importantly let us teach them discipline, which is the key for a vision.”
“We are also here to celebrate the success of two children who have been chosen to train with the Premier Soccer League giants, Kaizer Chiefs next year.
To them we want to say, go out there and do us proud. Nothing is impossible if you have the community’s support and the Angels are fortunate to have sponsors behind them such as Together Funeral Services, Khisani and My Boet. One of the parents who attended the event, Fikile Lubisi said, “As parents we truly appreciate the job done by Sam Mnisi, founder of Angels.
I am proud to say my child is not exposed to drugs and crime because he is always at the soccer field or at school.”
