It came as no surprise that Louieville Combined School was the biggest winner at the local community- development soccer-
tournament awards recently held at Silulu Cultural Centre.
After all, Louieville won the tournament, following an impressive run.

The awards ceremony was hosted to recognise and honour the schools and players which excelled during the tournament.
“It’s a great feeling to be presented with the winning trophy and we are looking forward to our reign as champions.

I also want to thank the organisers for giving us an opportunity to showcase our talent,” said Selby Nkosi, captain of Louieville Combined School’s team.

Other winners on the day were Tikhotle High School, Sibusisiwe High School and Masitakhe High School.
The Matsulu Community Development Soccer Tournament is an initiative by the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, Moroka Swallows’ player, Sandile Sibande and local football association.

The initiative was started to give pupils a chance to play competitive soccer and expose them to soccer scouts from the PSL.

“The tournament’s objective is to provide the players with a platform to play the beautiful game so that they could follow in the footsteps of their idol, Sibande,” commented departmental spokesperson, Sibongile Nkosi.
