Through the grapevine

Be in the know of who’s who and who’s doing what in Mbombela. Here’s your weekly dose of the latest gossip.

This week marks 23 years since South Africa held its first non-racial democratic elections. But are we really free? Does freedom of speech and expression apply? It is without a doubt that society is somehow screwed up, but hey, let us leave it right there. Back to business!

Since this day comes once a year, can we be allowed to say what we want on this Freedom Day?
This is what we are free to say:

1. We think controversial artist, Ayanda Mbuli’s latest work of art is nothing but an expression of how he sees democracy being screwed by our top leaders. Anyway, controversy is good and it sells like hotcakes. Like one chap said on social media, “Art knows no boundaries.”

2. Let’s throw back a bit, remember when Abo Babes bama what what trended last year? Yhooooooo, haai people were touched and it got some of us wondering how you would ever survive in Jozi Celebville. Just for control, naba Abo Babes bethu esibathandayo ke: Martin Mkhaliphi- U-Babes Wama Shades, Nomvula Mashinini-U- Babes We-ANC, Senzo-S- U-Babes WE-Swagg and not forgetting U-Babes Wama Donation, MEC Eric Kholwane who’s department also received a clean audit for the first time. Well done bhuti!

3. Will the real Mrs Mpumalanga stand up? Madam, we’re not sure if we’re attending the wrong events but we hardly see. Maybe you’re busy with much more corporate events unlike some people we know who attend grand store openings. Yes, we said it.

4. Whenever we watch Date My Family we still think of some people. Anyway there were fun memories created there.
That is all for Freedom Day and thank you for giving us the opportunity to express ourselves,

May the force be with you!
