Activists from various civil organsations demonstrated outside the Glencore head office in Melrose Arch.

The demonstration coincided with the Glencore global AGM taking place in Switzerland.

The protesters gathered in support of the Palestinian people, claiming that Glencore exports South African coal to Israel, which in turn powers Israel’s coal-fired power stations, thereby supporting Israel’s attacks on the Palestinians.

Additionally, the demonstrators protested against the environmental impact of coal mining, for communities affected by coal extraction, and for climate damage.
