Covid-19: Johannesburg leads Gauteng with number of infections

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng was recorded at 2 074 on Tuesday with Johannesburg leading at 1 124.

Health department spokesperson Kwara Kekana said 1 547 people in the province had recovered and 24 deaths had been reported.

“Out of 9 815 contacts traced, these are individuals who were in contact with people who tested positive for the virus; 7 992 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported, and therefore they were de-isolated,” she said.

“A total of 48 people are currently hospitalised in public and private facilities throughout Gauteng.”
