Farmer hit and killed by taxi while burning firebreaks near Ladysmith

A well-known farmer was killed yesterday afternoon (July 6) on the Besters road, Ladysmith. 

It is believed that the farmer was busy burning firebreaks at the side of the road and had just gotten out of his bakkie when a taxi crashed into him.

The man was sadly killed on impact.

The taxi was fully loaded with passengers at the time of the incident and was travelling towards Ladysmith.

The farmer has been identified as Willie Boshoff. He is well known in the Ladysmith community.

None of the occupants in the taxi sustained any injuries.

Social media has been a hive of activity, with many condolence messages pouring in.
