Covid-19: Mpumalanga death toll rises to 566 while active cases stand at 649

South Africa has recorded 682 215 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Monday, October 5. A total of 27 613 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 26 398 recoveries and 566 deaths to date.

The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

  • Bushbuckridge: 900 cases, 834 recoveries and 17 deaths
  • City of Mbombela: 5 015 cases, 4 744 recoveries and 44 deaths
  • Nkomazi: 2 098 cases, 2 027 recoveries and 36 deaths
  • Thaba Chweu: 436 cases and 403 recoveries and 10 deaths.

Gert Sibande District

  • Chief Albert Luthuli: 742 cases, 704 recoveries and 19 deaths
  • Dipaliseng: 341 cases and 325 recoveries and 15 deaths
  • Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 941 cases, 921 recoveries and 18 deaths
  • Govan Mbeki: 3 632 cases, 3 533 recoveries and 59 deaths
  • Lekwa: 1 142 cases, 1 072 recoveries and 59 deaths
  • Mkhondo: 551 cases, 509 recoveries and 28 deaths
  • Msukaligwa: 1 624 cases, 1 520 recoveries and 45 deaths.

Nkangala District

  • Dr JS Moroka: 398 cases, 384 recoveries and nine deaths
  • eMakhazeni: 456 cases and 431 recoveries and 17 deaths
  • eMalahleni: 5 499 cases, 5 333 recoveries and 99 deaths
  • Steve Tshwete: 2 743 cases, 2 610 recoveries and 61 deaths
  • Thembisile Hani: 639 cases, 604 recoveries and 20 deaths
  • Victor Khanye: 456 cases and 444 recoveries and 10 deaths.
