Centurion house fire damages four cars but owner’s life spared

“According to the owner, the generator was running because of load shedding when the fire broke out.”

A house fire in Eldoraigne, Centurion damaged four vehicles, while the owner managed to escape the flames with only minor injuries.

Tshwane emergency services, which responded to the scene, reported that about 500 to 600 square metres of the house were engulfed in flames; this included a garage with four vehicles, a kitchen and a room.

Spokesperson Charles Mabaso said the fire was reported at around 14:45 on Saturday.
Upon arrival, firefighters fought the fire at the garage, preventing it from spreading to the entire house.

Mabaso said they found the owner of the house outside when they arrived.

He sustained minor burns to his hands from the fire and was treated on the scene.

“According to the owner, the generator was running because of loadshedding when the fire broke out. The exact cause of the fire, however, remains a subject of investigation.”

Laudium Disaster Management also responded to the scene.

Their spokesperson, Ibrahim Dockrat, said the house was badly damaged by the fire.
