Garden Route weather warning: Strong winds expected

Small boats are advised to seek shelter.

A cold front is expected on Friday morning (25 June) which will result in strong to near gale force winds (50 to 60 km/h gusting 70 to 80 km/h) between Lambert’s Bay and Cape Agulhas in the afternoon, spreading to Plettenberg Bay by the evening.

Strong wind is expected along the Garden Route coast Friday afternoon, 25 June and Saturday 26 June.

Significant wave heights of 4.5m to 6.5m can be expected between Lambert’s Bay and Stilbaai by Friday evening, spreading to Plettenberg Bay on Saturday morning.

The wind is expected to moderate from the west by Friday evening and waves subsiding by Saturday evening north of Cape Point.

Small boats are advised to seek shelter.

The risk to fishermen and beachgoers is the possibility of being swept off low-lying rocks.
