Family held at gunpoint after load-shedding strikes

A family of five people were accosted by robbers in their home in Middelburg Suid during load-shedding.

According to a member of Middelburg Community Policing Forum (CPF), Bernard van den Berg, three armed suspects overpowered the family at about 19:30 last night at their house in Zuid Street.

The family consists of a couple with a baby, a 16 year-old boy and another person.

Two of the suspects were armed with a knife and a firearm. Reports were received that a struggle ensued, resulting in the injury of a man’s nose.

Three suspects were then seen fleeing the home.

SAPS were on the scene and conducted a search for the suspects. No arrests have been made yet.

No serious injuries were reported. Police and the CPF urged residents to remain vigilant.
