Elderly man caught with drugs worth over R1m at OR Tambo airport
The man was arrested when he tried to board a flight to India
An intelligence-driven operation yielded desired results when police arrested a 69-year-old man in possession of a large amount of pure heroin at the OR Tambo International Airport last week.
The male suspect was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle 8kg of heroin to India after police received a tip-off.

Counter Narcotics Intelligence Head Office, Organised Crime Narcotics Head Office and K9 Unit West Rand intercepted the man as he attempted to board his flight.
The elderly man allegedly had the heroin, with an estimated street value of about R1.2m, concealed in his suitcase.
The suspect appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Friday facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
