Watch: Polokwane floods after heavy thunderstorm
The weather service is predicting more rain for the city from today until the weekend.
Parts of Polokwane in Limpopo were flooded as a thunderstorm swept over the city late yesterday afternoon. Heavy downpours, lightning and thunder and wind led to flooding, fallen trees and structural damage around the city.
Videos and photos posted on the Citizens Emergency and Traffic Alert Group streamed in almost as quick as the water, from residents all over the city.
Several landmarks in the city including the Pietersburg Provincial Hospital, Hoërskool Pietersburg, Noordskool and other areas have reported flooding.
Municipal spokesperson Thipa Selala said last night that they were attending to challenges and incidents reported.
The South African Weather Service predicts more rain in the city from this afternoon and well into the weekend.
