2-year-old boy dies, siblings hospitalised in Bushbuckridge
Police and health experts are investigating allegations that four children ate contaminated food before falling ill.
The Bushbuckridge SAPS has called for calm while investigations continue after a two-year-old boy died in a tragic incident in Violet Bank yesterday.
According to provincial police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the Bushbuckridge police responded to a call regarding four siblings, aged between two and five, who had stomach-aches.
“The paramedics who attended the scene reported the youngest child, aged two, had already succumbed. The remaining siblings were taken to a nearby hospital, where they received medical attention. Two of the children were discharged, while the fourth one remains hospitalised.
“A team of investigators are hard at work with health experts and other role players, probing the allegations that the food the children ate before falling ill may have been contaminated.”
