Slain Ekurhuleni Metro Police officer’s wife in cuffs

Following the arrest of a man in connection with the murder of a law enforcement officer, the deceased’s wife has now been arrested too.

The wife of the late Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) officer, Banele Sikhosana, was taken into custody on Friday afternoon while preparing his funeral arrangements.

According to an article published by African Reporter, Sikhosana was fatally shot on February 7 while opening his tuck shop in Rest in Peace in Kwa-Thema, Ekurhuleni.

Authorities later arrested a man at the Kwa-Thema Hostel, who confessed to carrying out the killing. Investigators further revealed that this was not the first attempt on Sikhosana’s life.

His wife had allegedly tried to poison him before.

Acting EMPD chief of police Julius Mkhwanazi says the hitman admitted to being paid by Sikhosana’s wife, with the final payment allegedly made shortly after the murder.

One more suspect remains at large, but police report that an arrest is imminent.

A memorial service was held at Sikhosana’s home on Thursday.

The arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
