One person was killed and another critically injured when gunshots were fired inside Uitkyk Stationery shop in Silverton, Pretoria, this morning.

Pretoria Rekord reports that, according to the Volunteer Emergency Medical Response Unit (VEMRU), the shooting happened just before 09:00.

“On arrival, we found two patients with gunshot wounds. On further assessment, we found that one patient sustained fatal injuries, while the second patient was in a critical condition after sustaining a shot to the head,” said VEMRU.

It added that multiple emergency services worked together to stabilise the person who was in critical condition.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident will be subject to a SAPS investigation.”

At the time of publishing, police had not yet confirmed the shooting or provided further information.
