Kempton Park human trafficking case postponed to October
Ethiopian nationals were allegedly lured to South Africa, assaulted and held captive, while their families were extorted for money.
The man accused in a suspected human trafficking case in Birchleigh North, Kempton Park, appeared in the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning.
Kempton Express reports that the accused, Fekada Eshetu Dinago, saw his matter postponed to October 24 for further investigation, as the state awaits information in terms of Section 205 of the Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1977.
Dinago is out on R5 000 bail, which was granted under strict conditions.
He has been ordered not to contact any of the victims in the case and is required to report to the Norkem Park Police Station every Tuesday and Friday between 06:00 and 18:00.
The case relates to the rescue of several Ethiopian nationals who were allegedly held captive in a house in Birchleigh North earlier this month.
The victims were allegedly lured to South Africa under false pretences, assaulted and held captive, while their captors demanded large sums of money from their families for their release.
