Orlando murder accused appears briefly in court after bail denial
The accused in the Boitumelo Lebotse murder case appeared briefly in court as the victim's family laments repeated delays in the matter.
The man accused of murdering Boitumelo Lebotse made a brief appearance in the Orlando Magistrate’s Court today.
According to Soweto Urban, this court appearance followed the accused’s previous hearing, where he was denied bail due to the absence of his legal representative.
Alleged ex-boyfriend
Lebotse was stabbed to death, allegedly by the man who is believed to be her ex-boyfriend and reportedly struggled to accept the end of their relationship.
The newspaper previously reported that she was murdered on December 12, following a night out with friends and her siblings.
It was reported that the suspect first approached Lebotse’s sister at a nearby pub, demanding to know Lebotse’s whereabouts.
After being told she did not know, he went to the Lebotse family home, where he allegedly vandalised the victim’s room.
Court delays frustrate family
When asked about his failure to appear in court, the legal representative claimed his car broke down, however, he did arrive at a later time.
The victim’s family expressed their frustration with the constant postponements of the case, stating that these delays are hindering their healing process.
The case has been adjourned until February 23 for further investigations.
