Watch: Girl (9) assaulted, allegedly by another young girl in eMalahleni

The Tasbet Park community is calling for action after a nine-year-old girl was assaulted while others watched and laughed.

The Tasbet Park community in eMalahleni is outraged after a video surfaced showing two girls fighting.

According to Witbank News, many residents believe the incident forms part of a broader, ongoing bullying crisis in the area.

In the video, other children are seen cheering as a nine-year-old girl is repeatedly struck, allegedly by another girl. The altercation continues for several minutes before a man intervenes, questioning why the fight is being ‘celebrated’.

Fears of growing violence

Local leaders and concerned parents have voiced fears that bullying is becoming increasingly dangerous, with some describing it as a growing threat within the community.

“This is not an isolated matter – it is ongoing. If we fail to act quickly and responsibly, we risk facing a tragedy that none of us can bear. We cannot allow negligence to cost us the life or well-being of any child,” read a WhatsApp message shared on a community group.

Call for urgent meeting

Residents are calling for a community meeting this week to discuss the incident and its impact on the victim.

The community has requested that the victim, the alleged bullies and their parents attend the meeting.
