Another eMalahleni family is mourning the death of a loved one following an incident believed to be related to gender-based violence in Old Coronation.

Witbank News reports the incident occurred on Friday (May 8), and the woman was declared dead at the scene.

According to police, the woman had been sitting with her boyfriend and two neighbours drinking beer.

The neighbours later left, but within minutes, they heard two gunshots from the boyfriend’s house.

Suspect arrested at scene

Alarmed, they rushed back and found the suspect in his yard allegedly carrying a handgun, while his girlfriend lay bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head.
