Two men wanted for rape and robbery

Police are looking for two men after allegedly robbing and raping a woman in Soshanguve, Pretoria.

Patience Baloyi (32) said she was working night shift at the Mabopane Substation last Wednesday when she and a colleague, SS Ngobeni, noticed two men loitering outside, Rekord North reported.

“My colleague went to see what they were doing there, and I followed,” said Baloyi.

Baloyi added one of the men took out a gun, made them lie down and started searching their pockets.

“They took our cellphones and demanded MONEY. I told them I did not have any,” said Baloyi.

Baloyi said the armed man forced her to a nearby veld, while the other one, who was tied up, stayed behind with Ngobeni.

“He ordered me to undress and started performing sexual acts on me,” said Baloyi.

The suspects fled the scene afterwards.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Lolo Mangena said an armed robbery and rape docket was opened, and investigations were ongoing.

In a separate incident, a housebreaking suspect allegedly fled a Tongaat home in KwaZulu-Natal with a kilogram of meat after raping a resident.

Head of private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), Prem Balram, said reaction officers were informed one suspect gained entry into the home undetected through the front window and held up the woman, who was alone in the house on February 13.

He added: “The suspect is alleged to have ransacked the residence before forcing the woman into the bedroom where he raped her. The suspect then fled the home after stealing one kilogram of meat. RUSA officers went in search of the suspect. However, no arrests were made.”
