Durban woman assaulted, called an ‘Indian b**ch’
Investigations are under way after a woman was allegedly assaulted and called “an Indian b**ch” while walking her dog in Durban.
Police said the incident allegedly took place on Burnham Drive on Saturday evening, Northglen News reported.
The La Lucia resident, who was walking her dogs, had been warned by a resident to not walk her dogs on her verge. According to Durban North police spokesperson Lieutenant Raymond Deokaran, the woman suffered a dislocated jaw in the attack.
“It’s alleged the woman was walking her dogs when she was told by a neighbour not to walk her on her property because her dogs were barking at her dogs. The victim said the verge was municipal property and continued walking on. It’s alleged the woman then chased after her and punched her.
“She was called an Indian b*tch, and the assault continued when she fell to the ground. She screamed for help, and her mom came to her rescue. Her jaw was dislocated in the assault. The case is still currently under investigation, but a case of assault has been opened,” Deokaran said.
In a separate incident, Pretoria police were investigating a case of assault after a third-year law student was allegedly beaten by two women in the parking lot of a nightspot in December last year.
Arielle Bourbon, 23, was reportedly attacked by two women outside the Menlyn Piazza in the east of Pretoria.
The altercation started when one of the women reportedly called the student “fat”.
“When I told her that her comment was totally uncalled for, her blonde friend attacked me out of the blue, hitting me with her fists in my face,” Bourbon said.
The women allegedly kicked and stepped on Bourbon with high heels.
